My name is Kyle Mesteth, and I am the skateboarding coach for the Pine Ridge Thorpes and the owner of Ground Control. Together with my mother, Suzy Mesteth, we're thrilled to announce the return of Shredd Nation 2 as part of the Lakota Nation Invitational. Suzy is executive director of Ground Control and is once again producing Shredd Nation this year. This year’s skateboarding competition at LNI will be held on December 18th and 19th. We are now less than a month away!
While you can register at the event on site December 18 beginning at 9:00 am, the competition will begin at 11:00 am sharp! We encourage you to pre-register!
Registration is free for both days.

Last year, we had the privilege of announcing the first Shredd Nation Invitational at LNI. This year, we’ve assembled a team of skateboard professionals and skate community organizers to elevate the event even further. Together, we’re committed to making this a standout experience for all participants.
Day 1 of Shredd Nation will be all about competition, giving athletes the opportunity to showcase their skills and represent their schools in head to head competition in two categories in boys and girls divisions - first, second, and third place trophies will be awarded.
— 3 Skater 3 minute jams with final: Best Count out of 3 one minute runs
— Best trick
There will also be a trophy awarded for overall Shredd Nation Champion.
On Day 2, we’ll host a special skateboarding clinic led by the Adidas & Salad Days of Skateboarding team. All skaters and public are welcome for this master class, which will be followed by an exciting game of S.K.A.T.E., that is open to public registration just prior to the competition. This format ensures that participants not only compete, but also have the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the industry. Also in the mix will be Keegan Guizard of CSEF - College Skateboarding Educational Foundation.
We’re inviting schools to bring their skateboarding teams or individual athletes to join this incredible event. Shredd Nation is a unique opportunity to highlight the talent, creativity, and athleticism of our students while fostering a positive and supportive environment.

We’d like to thank this year's sponsors and partners:
- Ben & Jerrys Ice Cream
- The Boardr
- Adidas & Salad Days of Skateboarding
- Oglala Sioux Tribe
- Sacred Defense Fund
- ALLSZN
The Lakota Nation Invitational has always been a celebration of unity and youth empowerment. We’re honored to play our part once again and for years to come. Thank you for supporting opportunities that inspire and uplift our youth. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or need additional details.
We look forward to seeing your athletes at Shredd Nation 2!
Best regards,
Kyle & Suzy Mesteth

The HS students enjoyed some cultural exchange with Gem our science teacher. They tried steamed jasmine rice, lumpia (egg rolls made with pork, vegetables, cheese and some noodles) chicken adobo (chicken cooked in soy sauce, vinegar, pepper corns, lots of garlic, sugar, laurel leaves and anise). They also learned about unusual facts and food about the Philippines, traditional costume and the usual school set up.
