Important Dates to Remember.....We look forward to seeing our students very soon!

Attendance Matters! We look forward to a great school year and seeing our students every day!

🦅 ATTENTION MS/HS PARENTS AND GUARDIANS❗️We need your help❗️
This year there will be absolutely NO phones in the classrooms. We will also be significantly reducing Chromebook use.
🦅 Concerns About Overuse of Screens With Teens:
➡️ Reduced attention span: Excessive screen use can make it harder for students to sustain attention during lessons and complete tasks without digital stimulation.
➡️ Decreased face-to-face interaction: Heavy reliance on devices can reduce meaningful conversations, collaboration, and development of interpersonal skills.
➡️ Sleep and well-being concerns: Extended screen time can interfere with healthy sleep habits and overall well-being.
➡️ Distraction and multitasking: Notifications, games, social media, and unrelated websites can interfere with learning and reduce students’ ability to focus on instruction.
➡️ Reduced academic engagement: Over-reliance on technology may lead students to become passive consumers of information rather than active readers, writers, problem-solvers, and critical thinkers.
🦅 Benefits of Reducing Chromebook Use and Eliminating Phones in the Classroom:
💙 Stronger student engagement: Students are encouraged to actively listen, participate, ask questions, and engage directly with the teacher and lesson.
💙 Improved communication and relationships: Device-free learning creates more opportunities for face-to-face interaction, collaboration, and building relationships with peers and teachers.
💙 Greater focus and attention: Removing unnecessary devices can reduce distractions and help students concentrate on the learning task.
💙 Development of foundational skills: Students have more opportunities to practice handwriting, reading, writing, mental math, problem-solving, and critical thinking without relying on digital tools.
💙 More meaningful hands-on and culturally responsive learning: Students can participate in discussion, hands-on activities, projects, outdoor learning, and culturally grounded experiences that encourage learning through relationships and direct experiences.
Please talk to your student about school phone expectations and less device time in the classrooms. We look forward to working together with you for creating academic excellence for our students. 💙

Where: Tiospa Zina Tribal School (Pickup location: Inside main building)
When: Wednesday, July 1st, 2026 starting at 2:00 PM until all trees find a home.
Cost: Completely FREE!
Important Details for Pickup:
Ready for Travel: The trees are bare-root but will be professionally wrapped with moisture and bagged before you arrive, making them clean and easy to transport in your vehicle.
Planting Support: Every tree comes with a simple, one-page guide on how to plant and care for your new tree so it thrives for generations to come.
Limit: To ensure as many families can participate as possible, there will be a limit of 2 trees per household (mostly Sandbar Willow trees.)
Quick 1-Minute Survey: To help us the needs of our community and bring more free programs like this to the community, we will ask all participants to fill out a very quick, 4-question survey at the pickup table.
